The misbehavior at Rome's Trevi Fountain began earlier this year, after three tourists were stopped on Sunday night while trying to enter the historic monument.

One of them, under the influence of alcohol, evaded the police and jumped into the fountain.

The tourist was fined €500 ($524) and banned from visiting the fountain forever.

Built in 1762, the Trevi Fountain underwent a deep cleaning in 2024 to repair damage caused by years of coin tossing and inappropriate behavior.

Such incidents are common, often inspired by the 1960 film La Dolce Vita. Every year, dozens of people are fined for entering the fountain, while others are arrested while trying to steal the 1.5 million euros in coins that are collected each year and donated to charity.
