The unidentified man, 52, went to the hospital complaining that his migraine headaches were getting more frequent every week.
Scans revealed cysts on both sides of the brain, which turned out to be intestinal worm eggs.
The man told doctors that he had been fond of eating undercooked bacon for a long time, and doctors believe that this is the cause of his infection.
The condition, called neurocysticercosis, can lead to seizures and even death.
Neurocysticercosis is a preventable parasitic infection caused by larval cysts (closed sacs containing the immature stage of a parasite) of the pig tapeworm (Taenia solium). The larval cysts can infect various parts of the body causing a condition known as cysticercosis. Larval cysts in the brain cause a form of cysticercosis called neurocysticercosis, which can lead to seizures. Neurocysticercosis, which affects the brain, is the most severe form of the disease and can be fatal,' the CDC says.
The way the parasite ends up in the head after being swallowed is as unpleasant as the thought of worm eggs in the brain.
After eating undercooked and infected pork, the intestinal worm infection is acquired and the eggs are passed in the feces. Doctors suspect that through 'incorrect hand washing' these eggs re-entered the body and passed to the brain through the bloodstream.
The man was treated with anti-parasitic and anti-inflammatory medication and was instructed to visit a specialist clinic for infectious diseases.
