Josef Fritzl, the Austrian who kept his daughter imprisoned in a basement for 24 years and had seven children with her, will be able to leave prison on parole to move to a nursing home.

The court in Krems, Austria made the decision, this Thursday, as according to a psychiatric report, the 88-year-old suffers from dementia and no longer poses a danger to the public. The prosecution can appeal the court's decision within 14 days.

We recall that the sensational case came to light in 2008, when Fritzl's daughter, Elisabeth, then 42 years old, ended up in the emergency room and then told the police that she had been held captive by her father for many years.

Fritzl was sentenced to life in prison in 2009 for the manslaughter of one of his sons, as well as rape, incest and enslavement of his daughter.

According to foreign media, the man has meanwhile changed his name, as well as his daughter who lives in an unknown place in Austria, while the house where these terrible events took place has collapsed.
