Mixed signals often describe a disconnect between what someone says and how they are behaving.
For example, if the person you're dating says he's really into you and enjoys talking to you, but then takes two weeks to text back, that's mixed signals. Similarly, if your partner says he's looking for something discreet, but then always holds your hand when you're together in public and tells you it's going to be exclusive, that could also be a mixed signal.
There are two main elements that define mixed signals, which are: inconsistent display of interest or affection and poor communication.
When it comes to poor communication, this can look like: not expressing their wants and needs clearly, contradicting themselves, their words not matching their behavior, and being vague or irresponsible.
Mix signals in a new relationship:
1. You don't get that phone call when you expect it.
2. They're a little like ~too~ cozy with their ex.
3. They say they can't wait to see you again, but they're "too busy" with other things.
4. They don't talk much, but they expect you.
5. They won't show affection in public, but they don't mind doing it when you're alone.
