Although they are trying to create the image of a moderate force after returning to power for a second time in Afghanistan, the Taliban are not giving up their inhumane practices of punishment.

An 18-year-old volleyball player, Mahxhabin Hakimi, part of the Kabul municipality team, has been punished. Her trainer told the Persian version of the British media 'Independent' that she had been executed by Taliban militants with beheadings earlier this month. It is suspected that this is a photo of her posted on social media by the Taliban themselves after the execution.

However, the data circulating are contradictory. Sources close to the Taliban say she was not executed by their militants, but lost her life from injuries during a brawl in August, before the Taliban officially took power. Other clues say she committed suicide.

The news comes at a time when a summit on international recognition of the Taliban government is taking place in Moscow, where the United States has refused to participate.
