Fashion editor Richard Buckley, the husband of stylist Tom Ford, has passed away at the age of 72.

"With great sadness Tom Ford announces the death of his beloved partner of 35 years, Richard Buckley," Ford representatives said in a statement sent to CNN Style.

"Richard passed away peacefully at their home in Los Angeles last night with Tom and their son Jack next to him. He died of natural causes after a chronic illness."

Buckley was the world titan who served as editor-in-chief of Vogue Hommes International for six years before resigning in 2005. With a career spanning over 25 years, he held numerous coveted positions in the fashion industry.

As for the relationship with Tom Fors, it was a love at first sight. "
Buckley and Ford became the most famous couple in the fashion industry in 1990.

The pair lived and worked in fashion capitals around the world throughout their relationship, including Milan and Paris. They had a son in September 2012 and were married in 2014.
