Well-known conductor Kujtim Alija has passed away at the age of 60. Alija could not win the battle with a serious illness from which she had been suffering for some time.
The artist from Shkodra has been the organizer for many years of the nationwide children's festival, as well as the director of the children's cultural center in Shkodra and held the title "Grand Master". His last appearance in the media was at the Children's Festival in Shkodra, on July 4.
The mayor of Shkodra, Voltana Ademi has expressed her condolences to the family for this untimely loss.
"Today has started with very sad news! Grand Master Kujtim Alija has passed away! An extraordinary loss for Albanian art and culture, for Shkodra and Albania. I find no words to describe this very premature departure of my teacher, of the teacher of all children, of the great master, Professor Kujtim Alija. "Rest in peace, Grand Master, condolences to the Alija family for this loss," she wrote in a Facebook post.
