Gëzim Myshketa was invited to the show "Soiree" last night, to talk about the book with music CD that he has published. At the center of this artist's project are the traditional songs that come processed by his collaborators with a history and curiosities about them.
But in addition to recent successes, Gëzim Myshketa has also talked about his past and beginnings in Italy, where he is often prejudiced because he came from Albania.
"I have felt the problem of nationality, to put it bluntly. I felt it in the first years when I was in Italy in the years '99 -2000. Not that there are no prejudices against Albanians now. Let’s talk openly and be honest. "Then it was a situation that you were afraid to tell someone, especially in rural areas and in small towns," Myshketa said.
However, even when he worked as a waiter, he indicated that he was asked to sing and thus received a lot of tips.
"They made jokes 'Albanian, you came by dinghy'. I am talking especially about the first years, then you know people, it makes people know you, they know what your goals are. It helped me a lot to study canto and live in Parma, where they eat bread and cheese and lyrical music. The moment you told him that you were studying at the Conservatory for canto, any kind of prejudice disappeared. I was told to sing a song to them. I made a lot of tips when I was a waiter with songs. "I was the richest waiter in the bar," he said.
