He was just a 12-year-old coming from Switzerland to take part in a talent contest in Albania and, as soon as he took the microphone in his hand and started with the first grades, everyone was convinced that he was a genius and that the future would be successful, without any discussion.
With the father from Kosovo and the mother from Tirana (as if to show us the genius that the union of our two parts has brought), Gjoni, a round child, almost naive, exploded on stage with his brilliant voice performing great songs like "Je t'aime" by Lara Fabian or "Belle" from "Notre Dame de Paris" to "Albanian's Got Talent".
The journey had just begun… Gjon Muharremaj, years later it would be called Gjon's Tears and this name, not without purpose. His grandfather, one with whom John is very close, cried the first time he heard his nephew perform Elvis Presley song, "Can't Help Falling In Love With You."
Year after year, within a 10-year-old, Gjoni competed in many other music competitions, where he represented Switzerland, the country he came from, but at the same time making all Albanians proud with his extraordinary talent, and above all, with the big heart he has.
As he did in this Eurovision… The good boy of Albanian origin won over the entire public, was praised by music critics for the best composition, but really fought with all the "most powerful" countries in Europe to the end . Before the public gave its final verdict.
The final vote of the jury, with 267 votes, left John in first place, with the song "Tout l'Univers", leaving behind France with Barbara Pravin (who from time to time did not understand who was taking her place. first ”), Italy with“ Maneski ”, but also Malta with its representative, Destiny.
This result was reversed after the votes of the public, which sent Italy in first place, France in second place, and John in third place. However, as he himself said after the jury award, John received his award: "I received my award… I am very happy and I can not believe all this impact that my song has had in public", - he said among other things conveying every word with his sweet smile and teary eyes gleaming with joy.
There, a little above him in the hall were his parents and grandfather. Raising his head towards them, he said that once everything was over, the first call would be towards them… Then he would fall asleep….

Without the slightest worry that he could "provoke", he made the eagle with his hands after receiving the maximum points from the Albanian jury, applauded every artist and his colleague on the Eurovision stage, stood behind the Albanian group in rehearsals whenever he could and sang with takes the soul from the great European scene.
Because his music knows no politics, no nationality, no division. But he is the talent that disturbs the waters of Europe. Because it is genius… And for geniuses there is no evaluation jury.
