Meghan Markle and Prince Harry "shocked" the world with their first interview after leaving the royal family. While a question that has troubled many people is whether Meghan and Harry were paid for the interview?

There was a lot of speculation, but at the beginning of the interview, Oprah turned to Meghan, confirming that the couple was not getting paid to talk. Responding, Meghan said, "All of this is correct."

The news was confirmed by Page Six, who stated that the couple had not received any payment for the interview.

But while no money will go to Sussexes' account, that does not mean that interviewing itself is not a big deal for television networks. According to the Wall Street Journal, CBS, which aired the show in America, paid "a license fee of $ 7 to $ 9 million for the rights to broadcast Winfrey's interview with Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex, according to people familiar with the pact."

It is reported that as part of the deal with Winfrey production company Harpo Productions, the network "has the rights to license the special product in international markets".

CBS is also reportedly maximizing advertising profits from the interview, demanding about twice the normal price of advertising space during the interview break.
