Kim and Kanye preferred the sink to be in the middle of the bathroom because they think it looks nicer that way. As for the shape of the sink, it may look like a flat surface, but in fact it is not. The surface has a slight slope and a crack where water falls. Thus, it can perform the function just as well as the sinks we all have at home.
