When children put their tongue out, we look adorable. Parents often worry about their health. Fortunately, in many cases, this behavior is completely normal. Babies do it to interact with the world or express their needs. But parents need to be alert in order to recognize any warning signs. Here's what babies are trying to show us with this gesture:
1. They are hungry
Babies usually do not start crying immediately when they want to feed, but give parents some signs. They may try to put their hands in their mouths.
2. They are saturated
To find out if your baby is hungry or satiated, in this case you need to be alert to understand body language. If your baby pushes on, looks irritated or starts crying, he or she is fed up with food.
3. They're just playing
Babies tend to imitate the facial expressions of those around them. They can see this as a kind of game. Language learning can be the start of a game and a way to communicate with others.
4. Show that they are not ready for solid food yet
When your pediatrician tells you it's time to give your baby solid food when she is 6 months old, you have to be careful because some children are not yet ready for such a change. Thus, they can push food through the tongue. But if your child does this constantly, you should see a doctor.
5. Can breathe through the mouth
When the baby coughs or gets cold, it automatically begins to breathe orally. As a result, they start putting the language out. Consult your doctor if your child has breathing problems.
6. They may have some health problems.
Extruding the tongue can also be linked to health problems. Such can be pain in the gases or weak muscles. If your child has a persistent tongue or strange behavior, check with your doctor.
