Tirana, Fier and Kukes counties offer the highest average salary per employee compared to other counties during 2018 according to INSTAT data.
The average monthly salary in Albania in 2018 is ALL 50,589, Tirana region has the highest average monthly salary (ALL 57,533), while Lezha and Shkodra counties have the lowest salary (approximately ALL 39,000).
The wage map by region shows that counties that have developed the Fason industry and services have a lower average wage level to employ, as is the case in the cities of Shkodra, Korça.
Whereas cities that utilize natural resources such as Kukes based on employment mainly in administration and mining have a higher average wage level.
High wages in the Kukes region come in a paradox with per capita incomes, which are among the lowest in the country, but this is due to the fact that there is still very high unemployment.
Compared to the monthly average at the national level, Tirana region has the highest average monthly salary (13.72%), while Shkodra region has the lowest salary (22.06%).
The data show that municipalities that have developed employment in the extractive sector have a value of average monthly wages very close to the national level.
Compared to 2017, the average monthly gross wage during 2018 shows an upward trend of 3.3%.
Durres region has the highest wage increase (5.0%), while Kukës region has the smallest increase (1.6%) in 2018.
Studies on the average monthly gross wage show that the largest percentage of change was in the arts, entertainment and recreation sector with 16.85%, while this percentage in the real estate sector decreased by 2.13%.
Data show that counties that have developed tourism offered higher salaries last year. The counties of Durres, Tirana and Berat offered the highest salary increase last year compared to most.
