A photo posted on the Reddit social network confused the internet and made people doubt whether Steve Jobs was dead. The photo featured a man in glasses, bearded and gray hair, who was thinking in a bar. Because of its striking resemblance to Steve Jobs, the photo went viral and it took so long for people to start with conspiracy theories that Apple's creator is alive and hiding in Egypt.
In fact, this is not the first time that these conspiracy theories have spread with great speed. Many divorced stars have been said to be alive and hiding somewhere in the world. Remember that for 2Pac, Michael Jackson, Jim Morrison, Elvis Presley and many more the same is said. Why not believe the news that is making the media laps?
First, this photo has been shared on Reddit as a joke . Reddit is known for jokes and sarcasm in the posts and that was also the reason for posting the photo of Jobs' promise - to joke and ironic the rumors circulating about the aforementioned characters.
Jokes get out of control and this is nothing new. It has often happened that a joke is taken seriously by people and causes trouble.
Social media is not a safe source of information. They should not be taken into consideration as they may misinform the public. Even when it is quoted that something was done for a joke, the information can be misused. We must not forget that people sometimes live to cast conspiracy theories.
It has often happened that these theories are dangerous. Such was the theory of the 1st anniversary vaccine that was said to cause autism in children. This made many people believe it (there are those who still believe it, though it has never been proven) and not vaccinate their children.
Therefore, this picture should not be taken seriously. It's just a man similar to Steve Jobs and a photo that was used for jokes and should be seen as such.
