Starting from today, Tirana highway will be closed because emergency intervention will be initiated to improve the 'flood situation with the construction of two tombs' in the Tirana-Qafë Kashar segment.

ARAA clarifies how traffic deviation will be made after 05:00 am on 4 January. The ARM urges asset managers to strictly observe the rules of road traffic, the provisional marking on the segments where the work will be done and the police instructions.

FULL STATEMENT

The Albanian Road Authority and the Traffic Circuit Police inform the media and the public that, starting from 4 January 2019, at 5:00 am in the framework of the World Bank's performance maintenance project, emergency intervention will be initiated to improve the flood situation with the construction of two (2) tombs in the Tirana-Qafë Kashar highway (Rinas) in 6 + 600 and 6 + 800 (Kastrati & AlbaElettrica) road segments. The works are expected to be carried out according to the approved worksheet.

ARAA and the Traffic Circuit seek the understanding and co-operation of vehicle and area business leaders during the intervention process in this road segment and strictly adhere to established provisional signaling and roadside police instructions. The Albanian Road Authority and the Traffic Circuit Police have developed an operational plan for traffic interference and diversion to avoid traffic jams and to ensure the smooth running of the fieldwork. For this reason during the time of these works:

1. Tirana-Durrës autostrata in the Kamëz Overpass - Qafë Kashar Overpass, Rinas will be completely closed for traffic in both directions of movement.

2. Traffic will be diverted to all means on the secondary road, which will operate in a direction of movement.

3. We recommend road users during this time to choose alternative routes for the north (from Kamza) and to the south (from Ndroqi or Elbasan). Employees of the Albanian Road Authority, the Road Traffic Police and maintenance firms will be on the ground for the smooth running of the traffic and traffic orientation according to the approved and displayed media management plan. You are required drivers to strictly observe the rules of road traffic, temporary signaling placed on the segments where the work will be done and police instructions.
